LEGO Collectible Minifigures: the Series 1 Cowboy is Now Mine!

I've been a loyal collector of the LEGO Collectible Minifigure line ever since I learned about the existence of the foil packs (which was when Series 5 came out).  Unfortunately, that meant that I missed out on the first four series.  For years, I didn't worry about the early series, however, my collector OCD won't let me totally forget that those four series exist.  Thus, every now and then, I do a quick eBay search to see if there are minifigures that I need available for a reasonable price.

As luck would have it, my most recent search yielded a hit from the very first series of Collectible Minifigures:

That's the Cowboy from Series 1.  It's not the most exciting figure that LEGO has ever created, but I'm glad to own it since Series 1 figures are tough to find these days!  I must say that LEGO has come a long way with their collectible minifigure line (in terms of average figure quality).  Heck, the Cowboy doesn't even have any back printing, nor does he get much in the way of interesting accessories (two pistols are barely adequate)!

LEGO has returned to the Western theme for a number of different collectible figures over the years.  A quick glance at a few that I own will show you just how much better the later minifigures are:

Turthfully, I don't think most of the Series 1 Collectible Minifigures are worth the price that they typically go for.  That said, you can still find decent deals if you are patient - after all, a collector's life is never really complete so long as the LEGO company keeps churning out new series of Collectible Minfigs!

  1. Congratulations on crossing this one off of your list. How close are you to completing the Series 1 set?
