Happy December, everyone! I'm back today with the start of this year's LEGO City Advent Calendar. As in the past few years, my son and I will be building each day's treat and then I'll try to blog about the highlights here. That said, I'll always start my post with a spoiler-free image just in case you are reading along but haven't yet started that day's build.
Day 1 |
Alright, for day 1 we begin with a small boy with a snowboard.
The highlight of this figure has to be the wonderful Christmas sweater though I also appreciate the fact that LEGO provided both a helmet and a hair piece for the minifig. I do love the knitted bulldozer look on the sweater - here's a closer look:
Last year, I rated each day's build on a scale of 1-5 which I think I'll do again this year. One of the main things that I want out of an Advent Calendar is a proper feeling of the holidays. For me, the festive sweater carries this figure (and the fact that you get a helmet and a hairpiece helps as well). I do wish the snowboard had a print of some sort on it but overall I can't complain too much here. After a bit of consideration, I'm giving today's build a 5/5 score which is a great start to this year's Advent Calendar! I can only hope the festive spirit continues...and the only way to find out is to keep coming back here for future Advent Calendar goodies as we move through December.
A. Nice start. I like the sweater and the snowboard.
ReplyDeleteB. First year in years that I didn't purchase any Lego advent calendars. Was hoping I could grab a Star Wars one on sale... but it never happened.
That's a bummer! I expect that the Advent Calendars will go on sale here in a few days, if you can find them at that point!
