REVIEW: Lumibricks - King's Castle Treasury - #L9105

Today, I'm back with another brick review - this time it's the massive 3,209-piece King's Castle Treasury set from Lumibricks!  Read on for my full review!

The King's Castle Treasury is a massive set with over 3,200 pieces.  The final product is a set worthy of its piece count - the treasury measures almost 21 inches tall with a nearly 15-inch by 14-inch base.  It's a chunky set well worthy of its suggested retail price of $164.99 USD.

As the Lumibricks brand gains more popularity, it's been interesting to see how people's opinions of the Lumi minifigs have changed.  I think most people think of the LEGO brand when it comes to brick minifigs, but once people have had a chance to play around with the Lumibrick version, it seems most people end up feeling more positive about the little men (and women).  I will say that the minifigures are a giant pain to put together (specifically the arms and hands), but once that bit of unpleasantness is completed, I like the figures (and as a nice bonus, all of the accessories, including hair pieces, can easily be swapped with LEGO brand minifigures if you desire)!

I found the set a ton of fun to assemble; it seemed like every set of bags had something cool or unique to put together.  There were tons of secrets to build into the basement/dungeon level, and then the upper levels had some lovely stained glass windows to construct, plus some of the coolest roof techniques that I've seen.  There was only one issue with the build, but it was annoying enough (and could have been so easily remedied) that I highlighted it below:

All it took was for me to dig into my parts bin for a single tile.  I pushed the larger square tile back a row of studs, and that meant that the sliding "drawer" could no longer get caught on the square tile (and thus not actually slide).  Overall, I've found Lumibricks sets to be well-designed with clear instructions, but this was clearly a misstep that could have been easily remedied.

Value for money is, of course, entirely subjective.  However, if you consider what a similar build from the LEGO Company would cost, this set feels like a true steal.  The light kit is simply icing on top of the cake.  Also, you can almost always find Lumibrick sets on sale for some sort of discount (use my referral code if you do go looking on their site, please)!

This is my third Lumibricks set that I've built, and I can say without a doubt that it is the one with the highest play value.  Part of that, of course, is the subject matter (who doesn't love castles as a kid), but it's also because the designers put a LOT of thought into designing a gorgeous building that could still be easily accessed and, you know, played with by kids.  I do wish that there was at least one more guard minifigure (and I think the guard should have been equipped with a printed shield plus some sort of weapon), but otherwise, it's a wonderful set that is sure to bring out all sorts of imaginative play.

If you can't tell from my tone thus far, I love, love, LOVE this set!  So much so, in fact, that after building this one, I went back to Lumibricks to order the set that goes with it (the Castle Banquet Hall).  I hope to write a review of that set once it arrives and I have a chance to build it (and since my son is already excited for the set to arrive, I'm guessing it won't be long before I get that one to the table to build)!

If you are interested in this set, you can find it here for purchase.  Lumibricks has what appears to be a quite generous loyalty club if you buy direct (which is what I've been doing)!  Hopefully, this won't be the last time you see a gorgeous Lumibricks castle set featured here. I now have super high expectations for the next set in the line!  Come back soon to see my thoughts on that set.
