REVIEW: Lumibricks - Medieval Guard Post - #12013

I have a fun set to review today:  the Lumibricks Medieval Guard Post.  This is another set that I purchased for myself, and now I'm ready to review it!

The Medieval Guard Post set contains just shy of 3,000 pieces and is designed for builders ages 16+.  As of the time of this posting, this is one of the newest sets in the Lumibricks Middle Ages line of sets.

The four included minifigures are all nice, though I'll continue to beat the drum that Lumibrcks needs to include a member of an opposing faction for sets like this!  In fact, I wish the Lumibrick factions were better defined from set to set, much like what LEGO used to do with their castle sets (examples: Dragon Masters, Black Knights, Forestmen, etc.).  It was always clear what sets belonged to which faction (and you could make the determination of who was the "good guy" as you played)!

The build experience was excellent and unique!  The shifting baseplate concept was new to me, and it works flawlessly.

Lots of lights, four minifigures, and nearly 3,000 pieces make this a great set for the money.  The quality is equal to (or surpasses) other brick brands.

The play value here is excellent.  You can remove a wall to get larger hands inside, and you can change the entire layout to something closer to a "dollhouse" setting that works for even adult hands.  There are gears to turn to raise and lower a staircase, and another switch that "rings" the warning bell.  Finally, I have to mention the working toilet with falling poop.  That particular feature was a hit with my eight-year-old son!

Hands down, this is probably the best overall Lumibricks Medieval set that I've built (out of the four I've constructed).  The details are great, the lights are wonderful, and the set seems crafted with care from just about every angle.  It's great!
