I had to wait until school was out today so that my son could open up the LEGO City Advent Calendar door for me. Was the wait worth it? You'll find out after the spoiler-free image.
Day 15:
Today's door brought us a space alien with a comically large helmet. At first glance, you might think "oh that's kind of weird, but okay" when it comes to the inclusion of the alien. The alien makes some sense when you realize that LEGO went all-in on the Space theme across many of its brands this year. So fine, an alien.
Except.
Remember two days ago?
Yeah, that was a woman minifigure with what I assumed was a Squishmellow alien pillow. The mother seemed space-obsessed (and we got a spaceship to build yesterday, it all fit together nicely). But now?
Now I have questions.
Notice the face on today's alien as compared to what I thought was a Squishmellow. Was the mother figure actually holding an alien two days ago? Is that not a pillow? Is she an alien? I have so many questions, and no answers. Maybe a future Advent Calendar door will clear up this mystery (then again, I have no idea how that would be, but I'm ready to be surprised).
As it stands, the alien is cute (I guess?), but it doesn't fit with the holiday theme of the Advent Calendar. I'm hard-pressed to give this anything higher than a 2/5, and it only gets a 2 because I didn't have any of the tiny alien figures before this one.
