Knocking Another Minifigure Off My Want List!

I had a busy week or two in terms of collecting the LEGO Collectible Minifigures.  Last week, I managed to acquire a pair of Series 13 figures that I needed (Lady Cyclops and Snake Charmer) along with a duplicate figure from Series 12.

Today, I knock one more Series 13 minifigure off of my rapidly shortening want list:  The King!

I like the look of the King quite a bit - and if I had had the King back when I was little and played with LEGO every day, I'm willing to bet that I would have held the king in very high regard!

I'll have more to say about the King minifig when I showcase him as part of my Minifigure Museum collection of posts.  Until then, how about a slightly different view of the royal one?

It Has Been Awhile!

It has been awhile since my last post - and it has been even longer since I've been able to update my Want List for LEGO Minifigures!  In fact, I haven't acquired a new minifigure for my collection since March 1 of this year...but that changes now!

Thanks to a recent eBay auction pickup, I am now the proud owner of two more minifigures from Series 13.  The auction actually included three figures - two that I needed from Series 13 plus a third figure from Series 12 (which I already owned).

I'll begin with the one that I don't need - though the figure is definitely quite nice.

I'd be happy to trade/sell that figure though since I don't need two of her.  In fact, the only Series 12 minifigure that I'm missing is the Hun Warrior - perhaps I could work out a trade with someone for that lone figure?

Now, let's turn our attention to the reason why I bought the auction.  First up, I needed the Lady Cyclops figure.

LEGO already made a male Cyclops a few Series ago.  Now the guy has a lady friend to go on one-eyed dates with!  I think the mole on the side of the face was a nice touch...

The third figure was the one I was most excited about:  the Snake Charmer.

From the moment I saw the first sell sheet, I knew this was a must have figure for me.  I don't know why exactly - I don't even like snakes.  That said, it's a unique figure and the snake itself is also quite nice.  This is easily one of my favorite figures from Series 13!

I'm now only missing five figures from Series 13 (plus one from Series 12).  You can find everything that I'm looking for here if you are interested in working out a trade!

Minifigure Museum: Sad Clown (Series 10)

Sad Clown:  LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 10

The Sad Clown was the first figure in the LEGO Collectible Minifigure line to actually be depressed.  His face shows him shedding a tear (probably from his hideous all white-and-black get-up).  He's so depressing, in fact, that even my puppy is looking sad!

Overall, I think the 10th edition of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series was quite strong.  Unfortunately, in every group of objects there has to be a weakest link - and for Series 10 the weakest link is almost definitely the Sad Clown.

Basically, the biggest problem with the Sad Clown is how useless his various pieces are for other purposes.  His face is white with a tear drop - and while the hat is a new mold for the figure it's still fairly difficult to envision using it on other figures.

Finally, even the back of the Sad Clown is depressing - that's right, not a single bit of printing to be found.

If this spotlight on the Sad Clown is too depressing for you, rest assured that the rest of the figures in Series 10 are much better.  In fact, Series 10 has at least a couple of figures that I consider to be among my all-time favorites...and maybe one or two more that could make that list if only I actually owned them (here's what I'm missing).

With that, I'll leave you with one last sad picture as we bid adieu to Sad Clown...
